Mars' natural satellites : ウィキペディア英語版
Moons of Mars

The moons of Mars are Phobos and Deimos.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=NASA - Under the Moons of Mars )〕 Both moons were discovered in 1877 by Asaph Hall〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=The Planet Mars: A History of Observation and Discovery. Chapter 5: 1877. University of Arizona Press )〕 and are named after the characters Phobos (panic/fear) and Deimos (terror/dread) who, in Greek mythology, accompanied their father Ares, god of war, into battle. Ares was known as Mars to the Romans. It is possible that Mars may have moons smaller than 50–100 meters and a dust ring between Phobos and Deimos, but none have been discovered.〔(M. Adler, et al. – Use of MRO Optical Navigation Camera .. (2012) ). (PDF) . Retrieved on 16 February 2013.〕
